All in all, it was a real blast, whith pupils showing real interest and enthusiasm. I hope to see some of you attending classes and learning more about this fantastic new sport of Freestyle Kayaking!

Non Stop Adventures in Baynesfield

On the 22nd January 2010 Kayak Freestyle Training was invited to do a presentation at Non Stop Adventures in Baynesfield close to Pietermaritzburg. The weekend was kicked off with an explosive series of videos and slideshows illustrating and explaning ‘Kayak Freestyle Training.’ Kayaks were brought in, and were freely available for pupils to try out. After the much anticipated and enjoyed presentation, pupils then went off on an adventure trail doing mapwork along the way, navigating and picking up clues to finish their race.

The weekend was filled with activities and games such as stalk the lantern, mountain bike trail riding, hiking, and raft building.

Thanks must go out to Mr and Mrs Lotto, for their wonderfull hostpitality, organization and provision of accomodation and meals for everyone!

About Quinton

Born and raised in KZN, I utilized the beauties of both coastal and inland territories, maintained a friendship with one of South Africa’s leading Exploration Kayakers ‘Graeme Anderson’(1st Descent  of the Amazon River Tributary, ‘The Maranon River.’) and went from there to develop an ever increasing passion for the Sport of Freestyle Kayaking. Participating in various competitions and river runs on the map of South Africa. Upon moving to Durban in 1998, I saw the potential in utilizing the ocean as a means of developing Freestyle Kayaking, and have been doing so ever since.

Working on various rivers in South Africa as a Freelance Rafting guide, I supplemented my interest in kayaking by working with School groups on adventure trails, sports, and rafting as well as with private corporate groups.  Filming and video production became an added interest, creating and selling promotional and corporate videos within the adventure sector. I then moved across to the United States for six months where I led and guided river trips and led instructional kayaking classes in North Carolina. In 2009 I returned from working in the UK for two years, all the while maintaining and working on Freestyle kayaking in the Atlantic Ocean of South Western England.

A new Year, a new beggining for Freestyle Kayaking in Durban!

I cant beleive it’s finally happening and under way! Freestyle Kayak Training in Durban! This year will see a real change of the sport here in South Africa, starting in Durban!
