Course Outline
- January 19th, 2010
Kayak Freestyle Training’ will operate between Durban and Hillcrest, serving the highway and Durban Schools.
Understandably, students have other commitments and time can be a halting factor. The course has been designed with this in mind, enabling student’s flexibility in some time choices.
Lessons will be held 6 days a week at a different school every day. At times when necessary, local area club or private pools other than school pools will be used. Practice sessions will be scheduled after school, at a preferred time. Local transport will be provided by ‘kayak freestyle Training’ when necessary.
Ideally attendance would be preferable at the school of attendance, if this is not possible, a catch up lesson may be attached to another participating school on another day of that week of training, where permissible and space depending.
A personal integration between students and trainer will always be of prime importance, a maximum of 7 students per lesson will be allowed initially.
On every weekend either Saturday or Sunday, or both, a full day will be reserved at a selected venue, either coastal or outsourced outdoor venue such as the Drakensberg, Mfongosi Bum Slides, Tugela River (Zingela Safaris).
On weekends participants from all participating schools (5-7 pupils/ School) will have the opportunity of integrating and developing the newly learned skills on the waves of the Indian Ocean or engaging in outsourced activities such as Rope work, rescue and film making.
Transportation to outsourced venues will be provided by ‘kayak Freestyle Training’, costs will be non profit, and a pooled amount will be collected for transport and hired guides where applicable. As an example; A trip to Mfongosi Bum Slides may total R1000 in Travel and (R500 x 2) per day for hired Guides, divided by 15 students=R133.0 each. An unbelievable price saving dividend solution!
Coastal weekends will be free, except for a pooled dividence of a non profit Travel cost as transport will be provided, and collection points will be scheduled from hillcrest all the way down to Durban, and back in the afternoon. Learners will have flexibility of time, enabling participation of lessons as and when suitable for their schedule during a coastal day if they have their own transport, and a comfortable backup knowing that transport will also be provided by ‘Kayak Freestyle Training,’ early in the morning and late in the afternoon.
An average learner might have other sporting interests most Saturdays, thus most Sundays will be used for Outsourced trips to the coast and river locations. ‘Kayak Freestyle Training’ will be present the entire day, working with learners as and when they are present. Most weekend Training venues will be held on the Durban Beach Front.
